Discarded, Lost, or Tossed…
Trash Art
Walking the trails and beaches, I find items that can be given another life. Plastics never go away; they only break down into smaller and smaller pieces till they become microplastics. By removing them, I don’t change anything, I pay tribute to nature. The sculpture is a mix of natural and man made items. I can’t explain why I felt compelled to take the items found together on a beach and weave them together. I can’t explain why they draw my attention or why I enjoy them in my flower garden. Even on the beach, the twisted roots and stumps draw my attention like the birds and the waves. I’m drawn to them like I am to painting.
